Bliss Cupcake Cafe in downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas: The Bliss Story.

Cupcake shops have caught on in a big way all over the United States, and although these boutique bakeries specializing in cupcakes are typically a big city thing, Shelley Cassar, founder of Bliss Cupcake Café felt that Fayetteville needed one. When Cassar came up with the idea of bringing a little cupcake Bliss to Fayetteville, she noticed that Little Rock, Memphis and Dallas had their own shops speciaizing in cupcakes, so why not Fayetteville? Bliss is now owned By Jason and Lacey Carney who
continue the tradition started by Cassar in 2009.

Bliss Cupcake Café opened its doors to the Northwest Arkansas public on November 19th, 2009 to a crowd of cupcake fans that stretched out the door. There are other bakeries in Fayetteville, with many offering birthday cakes, wedding cakes, donuts, and even cheaper, mass-produced cupcakes, but none that would qualify as truly gourmet cupcake shops that bake their tasty creations in small batches using truly high-quality ingredients like hand-scraped Madagascar Vanilla Beans.

One Fayetteville bakery does offer cupcakes, but also serves lunch and Webkinz! Not Bliss. The cupcake shop will always focus on one goal: Creating the best cupcakes in Northwest Arkansas! Instead of trying to offer the Northwest Arkansas area of Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, and the smaller communities of Farmington, Prairie Grove, Goshen, Lowell, West Fork, Springdale and Bentonville with the usual mix of baked goods like donuts, cookies, pastries, bagels, decorated cakes, birthday cakes, muffins, dessert cakes, petit-fors, wedding cakes and cheap, mass-produced cupcakes that use shortening and artificial flavorings, Bliss aims to create the finest gourmet cupcake creations with over 44 flavors, each hand-made to tried and tested recipes.

Bliss does not serve sandwiches for lunch or breakfast, but instead offers the best cupcakes in Northwest Arkansas for any time of day and for any occasion, along with some of the highest quality coffee in the area that uses single-source Guatemalan coffee from small, family-owned estates that is then fresh roasted daily, and brewed with spring water.

Northwest Arkansas now has the bakery for gourmet cupcakes. Razorback Red Velvet cupcakes in particular are very popular for weddings, (as an alternative to) cakes, special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, gifts for clients and employees, as corporate gifts, or for parties, family reunions, tailgating, or even your next anniversary.

Cupcake fans rejoice when they discover the gourmet cupcake sensations offered by Bliss. Since the cupcakery opened for business in the EJ Ball Building, just off the Fayetteville Square, locals have been enjoying flavors like:

Lemon Bliss Cupcake – Light lemon cupcake with a lemon curd filling and lemon buttercream icing.

Marshmallow Brownie Cupcake – With marshmallow frosting and chocolate sprinkles.

Although other places in the Fayetteville area have tried to jump on the bandwagon with their imitations, making cupcakes the ‘right’ way, the way you would make them yourself at home takes time, patience, and the best ingredients.

All cupcakes at Bliss Cupcake Café are made fresh from scratch each and every day, with each recipe taking a cupcake Artisan an hour or longer to create. Baking the cupcakes on the premises without ever using shortening, lard, frosting in a tub, or preservatives of any kind, is the only way to get the truly unique flavors Bliss strives for in its cupcakes.
